Think traditional British cuisine and vegetarian food does not immediately come to mind, in general, most people immediately conjure roasts, fish and chips and Shepherd's Pie - hearty meat dishes. While some of this is true, this is not entirely true that Britain and Ireland have a variety of tasty dishes, ideal for vegetarians.
My family are fierce predators, but do not always want to serve meat every day. I can tell you I've never had any complaints when I used some of the following recipes.
Soups Vegetarian
A vegetarian soup is usually full of masses of vegetables or beans and legumes, and often a meal in itself when served especially with crusty bread and butter. Here, three, which can be easily used as a stand-alone food. For a light meal, lunch or as a snack, try one of these light soups.
Vegetarian Curry
Currys is excellent for vegetarian and vegan recipes. Two of my favorites are, you can find many more recipes vegetarian curry here in this guide about vegetarian food, Jolinda Hackett.
Cut Vegetarian Food
One way I make my family eat vegetarian food, without knowing it, is to transform a classic dish into a meal in itself. A baked potato, served with a delicious heavy part of the cauliflower cheese and salad is a bowl of hot and hearty dinner. Try old favorites like Bubble and Squeak or Irish countryside with a fried egg and an extra serving of vegetables, beetroot is beautiful, and even a vegetarian dinner in a flash.
Two other classics, great vegetarian dishes are a Welsh rarebit or, if not strictly British, but worshiped here is a vegetable frittata.
My vegetarian signature
Although my family and most of my friends, such as meat or fish, I've never had a single complaint if they serve my favorite wild mushroom lasagna vegetarian dishes. I first learned this dish while foraging in Scotland for a week, where we enjoyed a day of rooting in the forest floor to collect mushrooms (under supervision, to ensure they are not toxic varieties). You cook lasagna at night with fresh mushrooms was heaven. It is not always possible to collect in this way fungi, but most supermarkets and delis now measures cultivated mushrooms. They are not cheap, but worth it for a special treat.
