Top tips for perfect macarons

There is much talk about how it is difficult to macaroni. Not at all. Of course, they are tough, but just need a few tips and believe me; will soon be made perfect macarons every time. The first time I had these delicious treats French, my attempt was a disaster - see it can happen to a professional. The reason? Received little attention from the recipe say it might just be uncomfortable, after all, is basically a meringue. Well, I was wrong. It is possible, no rules support and advice a noticeable, but not very pretty by the payment of the features so that macarons loved him (not just like).

Le Macaron tower is up, I made for the wedding of my step-daughter; as you can see, I improved since the first feeble attempts. These are the tips that I learned along the way and helped me to improve.

My top tips for perfect macarons - every time

  1. Use a carpet: If you can, buy a Macaron form to make a silicone mat especially for the macarons. My favorite Lakeland in the UK, but shop around where you are. You do not have to buy a carpet; You can draw a pattern in parchment paper; the advantage on the mat is to help the notches, a perfect fit.
  2. Colorful macaroons: For the color buttons, the use of food coloring and do not add it to a liquid; Using a liquid changes the texture badge. The dyes are added to the liquid egg white. Add more rather than less, at this point, it is a color darker ultimately wants; However, it is significantly easier to beat and the addition of sugar.
Chocolate Macaroons are a little different, check the recipe to see the difference.
  3. Be prepared: Weigh and measure all ingredients before you start and always sift the icing sugar and ground almonds; You may think that skipping this step does not matter; This is the case. No risk sifting lumps in the mixture to blend to smooth macaroni.
  4. Clean and bright: With protein are that a few days old and at room temperature. Before installation make sure that the whisk and bowl are spotlessly clean and grease free.
  5. Slowly add sugar no protein at a time, in three parts is generally preferred. Beat egg whites until very, very good, so stiff, you can place the bowl upside down and they will not fall.
  6. When mixing the sugar almond / ice to the beaten egg white, with a thin spatula and fold quickly and smoothly., Have lost plump not be a large amount of air, but the resulting dough should still be thick and airy. Excess fluid and it worked.
  7. Less is more: Using a single round nozzle on your piping bag every fan is a waste of time. Less is more when the pipe on the mat or parchment paper; You do not have to fill as the mixture sit to the edge and fill the board.
  8. Press and wait: Once running, press the hob largely the work surface to remove air bubbles and to the solution of the mixture. Allow to dry before cooking macaroni tube; 20 to 30 minutes is the best; Macaroni surface dry and smooth.
  9. Touch Explosion: Midway, open the oven door and quickly swim a few times, so that the steam can escape. Close the door and ready to cook.
  10. Be patient: Once cooked, slip mat / parchment on wire rack and let the bullets go completely cold. Not be tempted to remove the macaroni to cool, get angry when you do that; Macaroni stay.
  11. Patience is slow and pipe filling on the flat side of a button, place the other on top and rotated to distribute the cream gently. Once the macarons are filled and are ready to eat to think, only to know; which are best stored in a container in the refrigerator overnight. The result is a smooth and macaroni taste. It's hard, I know, but it works.
  12. And finally: If you do not have time to fill the macarons not even cooked, or if you want to prepare a little in advance, shells freezes very well. In a large bowl, to prevent breakage and in the freezer to keep for over a month. Always fresh butter filling, freeze very well.

Marmite vs Vegemite ... what & # 039; Your choice?

British favorite, Marmite is a rich, dark brown yeast spread on hot toast, waffles and a hot drink or a snack. Marmite lovers will tell you that is good or not! The spread has a dense salty flavor and should be used sparingly. Marmite is made from yeast extract (a by-product of the brewing industry) and is a rich source of vitamin B complex statistics say that 25% of Britons take Marmite with them when they travel. Marmite also launched a new extension, Marmite XO, is an age difference of origin and according to some version of Marmite taste of childhood.

Vegemite is otherwise of Australia (but can be bought in the UK) and is also a yeast extract spread.

In view, therefore, are both yeast extracts that have the same taste should definitely, but apparently there is a clear difference in taste like Vegemite has added flavors, colors and more natural additives Marmite this is a hitter that other?

Marmite vs Vegemite, the taste test

A trip to Australia was my first encounter with Vegemite on their own ground, so I decided it was time to see if I tossed and the new XO into the mix to make the difference between Marmite and Vegemite not only, but.

I'm not sure that the "blind" tasting scientific review, only three pieces of toast hot with brown butter, each card with an equal amount of propagation. One bite of each and the differences are immediately obvious (to me).

  • XO was easy to recognize because they closer not only a richer flavor, darker than I in the texture and thick and sticky.
  • Original Marmite simply because it's a taste I'm used to. Salinity is offset by a slightly sweet flavor with a silky smooth texture.
  • Vegemite, I am sorry to say that I did not like to try though. Found something, something unpleasant odor, but could not put my finger on why, and the flavor was weak and soft, with a bitter aftertaste, which I found uncomfortable.
My (Australia) friend, a lover of Marmite had the same reaction.

I was really surprised that the two products are completely different, and for me, "Mite is Marmite is good and I could care less if XO or traditional, I like both.

So I think that roles of discussion and an answer to Marmite is better than Vegemite remain unclear. It is simply a matter of personal taste, I think.

Have fun, and this book smorgasbord of Marmite Dictionary. All you on the famous Tar "in a pot." Great gift when you. A lover of Marmite in their community

Audacity of braised Cottage Pie Recipe

Meatloaf is one of the nice welcome comfort food at any time of year. The cake should not be confused with the same recipe for shepherd's pie, but instead of beef used lamb. To call other changes, instead of minced (ground) common or beef stew, then try beef cheek.

Beef cheeks are one of those pieces of meat that have been ignored for so long. Thank God, his wonderful gelatinous meat is finally realized once again. The type of work is ideal for long, slow cooking, producing a rich, flavorful and tender meat. Beoing ignored meat does not mean that the beef cheek was cheap to buy. Prepare the beef cheek pot bottom (which can of course eat (not very different from this recipe) as it is and use the leftovers for the cake ....) and then simmer the meat pie to break your pastor. Top butter, mashed potatoes fluffy and viola! a super tasty alternative to the normal version.

I know it sounds like a lot of work, believe me; is not how to cook slowly assembled Royalty-pot, it is not necessary to start.

To serve: Carrots and peas are beautiful, but one of my favorites is Brussels sprouts.

Make sure that the equipment and ingredients to make mules, are as fresh as possible, including your hands. But not frozen - the butter should be very cold. Hot hands, ingredients and equipment if too hot the butter melts instead of rubbing causing serious scones.

Quick and easy to operate. Avoid excessive scrubbing and kneading the mixture, which need not be very smooth, must be collected only in a light, soft dough.

When cutting, turn the cake with a knife mule, not the knife, simply press down and shake the mules into the prepared pan. If you cut with a knife, make sure it is sharp or blunt knife circular cutting wrung tears on the banks of the mule and avoids any increase during baking.

    British Vegetarian Recipes

Think traditional British cuisine and vegetarian food does not immediately come to mind, in general, most people immediately conjure roasts, fish and chips and Shepherd's Pie - hearty meat dishes. While some of this is true, this is not entirely true that Britain and Ireland have a variety of tasty dishes, ideal for vegetarians.

My family are fierce predators, but do not always want to serve meat every day. I can tell you I've never had any complaints when I used some of the following recipes.

Try old favorites like Bubble and Squeak or Irish countryside with a fried egg and an extra serving of vegetables, beetroot is beautiful, and even a vegetarian dinner in a flash.

Two other classics, great vegetarian dishes are a Welsh rarebit or, if not strictly British, but worshiped here is a vegetable frittata.

I first learned this dish while foraging in Scotland for a week, where we enjoyed a day of rooting in the forest floor to collect mushrooms (under supervision, to ensure they are not toxic varieties). You cook lasagna at night with fresh mushrooms was heaven. It is not always possible to collect in this way fungi, but most supermarkets and delis now measures cultivated mushrooms. Question: The working lunch - lunch What is a Tiller

Go to almost any British pub for a taste of British cuisine and is very likely to see a plowman lunch menu, but what about a plowman lunch? True, this is not for the faint of heart, as it can often contain cheese, ham, cucumber, a piece of meat and bread. Ever wonder what is on offer before ordering.

Answer: lunch, a farmer exactly what it says on the tin, a great day for a farmer in the fields for lunch it was. Exactly where the name or the contents of a Plough missed only in the mists of time when it records that mentioned in the literature of the 18th century.

    What lunch in a tiller?
A worker with crusty bread, cheese, pickled onions and chutney more, but that may be very different and may also have a selection of sausages, hams, maybe a piece of cake and / or a slice of meatloaf contain pork, a few slices of apple or other fruits of the season. Traditionally, cheese, bread and pickles are homemade by the farmer's wife - so it's a cheap and plentiful. Today, a good farmer and cheese of the region, at least, Colombia; The same applies to meat and other food. The bread should be a thick piece of crusty bread or baguette, not to hold not less, when stacked with cheese, chutney and pickles.

And drink ... in a pub, be a pint of beer or cider.
